Paul Johansson

Paul Johansson grew up in Tanzania and Ethiopia as part of a missionary family - roots that shaped a lifetime of loving Jesus and loving people. Upon graduating from the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute, the University of Minnesota, Gordon Conwell and Luther Seminary Paul served in pastoral ministry in Minneapolis, Charlotte, NC, Hartford, CT, St. Cloud and Elk River, before retiring as a pastor in 2019.

Paul and his wife, Martha of 40 years, are grateful for their growing family: two sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. Paul and Martha are grateful to the Lord for his goodness, generosity and kindness in their lives. One of Paul's mottos in life is that "Jesus is discovered as he makes his way through us into the lives of others". In Matthew 25 Jesus says "even as you do it to the least of these you do it to me."  In each congregation that Paul shepherded these words of Jesus birthed new missions and ministries. In each congregation the Holy Spirit created a heart for the very people that Jesus has a heart for, i.e. the lost, the lonely, the least of these, the little ones, the broken, etc..

In their retirement Paul and Martha are seeking to love the Lord God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind and love, honor, serve and bless their local and global neighbors. Paul feels blessed to be part of the Restore Recovery board. Paul loves being a Grandpa, is a huge sports fan - especially the Minnesota Gophers - likes outdoors activities, reading, traveling, etc..
