Lisa

“A few years ago, I was at the end of my rope with alcoholism.”

Lisa remembers the moment clearly. After years of struggling, her children drove her to a treatment center. She entered treatment feeling hopeless and unsure if anything in her life could truly change.

Her Story

But step by step, things began to shift. After completing short-term and long-term treatment and continuing on to TCLI, Lisa started to experience something she hadn’t felt in years—hope.

“For the first time in a long time, I woke up looking forward to the day instead of waking up with dread.”

When it came time to leave treatment and transition back into everyday life, Lisa was scared. She knew she needed a supportive place to continue her recovery.

That’s when she learned about Restore Recovery.

Lisa reached out to see if there was an opening in the Brainerd home. There was—and that decision changed everything.

“When I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms.”

Within just a week, Lisa had a job, a safe place to live, and even a car. Today she works as a direct care provider at Lutheran Social Services.

More importantly, she found something she never expected: a supportive sober community.

Every day, the women at Restore Recovery encourage one another with kindness, accountability, and understanding. Together, they are rebuilding their lives.

“Living in a sober community gave me the chance to rebuild my life and relearn how to live without alcohol.”

Today Lisa is not only thriving in her recovery—she is also giving back. As the house lead at Restore Recovery, she now mentors women who are just beginning their journeys.

She knows exactly what they are feeling, because she was there not long ago.

Lisa is reconnecting with her family, rebuilding relationships, and looking toward a bright future.

“So much of what I thought I had lost in my life has been restored.”

Because of the support she found at Restore Recovery, Lisa’s story is no longer defined by addiction—but by hope, healing, and a new beginning. And today, she is helping other women discover that same hope.
